Women Weight and Well-being Research Study
One Year Study - No Cost To Participants

Join our small groups to help improve your health and well-being over a year long study.
Groups will be led and supported by clinicians including:
-
Nurses
-
Dietitians
-
Kinesiologists
This year long program will be grounded in community along with regular 1-on-1 support. ​Together we will focus on moving in ways that serve you, nourishing your body without restriction, and practical skills for emotional well-being.

Medication is optional and your choice. We will support you either way. (Medication is not provided or covered by the study).​​​
Study Phases
Phase 1- Weeks 1 to 6

Includes weekly group sessions and initial individual visits

Meet one-on-one with a:
-
nurse for a full weight and wellbeing assessment and plan
-
individual nutrition consultation with a dietitian
-
kinesiologist for a individualized exercise plan

Phase 2 - Weeks 7 to 24
-
Includes biweekly group sessions, individual visits and a midpoint assessment

Meet with the registered nurse and dietitian for individual follow ups

Phase 3 - Months 7 to 12

Includes monthly group sessions, individual sessions, and a final assessment

In addition, a nurse or dietitian will do phone call follow-ups
biweekly for the first six months and monthly thereafter to see how you are doing.
Eligibility
Women 35–75; Alberta resident; BMI ≥ 30 with waist ≥ 88 cm, or BMI ≥ 27 with obesity-related conditions (EOSS ≥ 1); able to attend groups and follow-ups; able to provide informed consent; not eligible if pregnant/ breastfeeding or if diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Participation is voluntary.
Location
Groups meet at Symphony of Health in Calgary, Alberta with a virtual option.
